Woodfordes Norfolk Wherry Best Bitter

Named after the unique sailing barges which were once common on the Norfolk waterways, Woodfordes Wherry is an amber coloured, smooth beer with a distinctly hoppy nose and a well-balanced palate. Its flowery, hoppy character and long lasting, wonderfully bitter after taste makes it a favourite with real ale drinkers. Woodfordes Wherry Bitter won CAMRAs hotly contested Champion New Brewery Beer of Britain Award in 1990/91.

It makes 40 pints at an ABV of 4.5%.

This kit is classy. I bottle my beer, and last year did a blind taste with some friends. They couldn't tell me which ones I'd made, and which ones I'd bought from the off licence.

This kit seems to have become the most recommend starter kit. It deserves that status. It is a gem, if yo do it right, and it isn't hard, you get a brew that is just like you get in the pub -amazing when you first start. This is a great standard bitter to add to your repertoire the only problem is everyone will want to drink it.

My first kit many years ago and still making it always reliable and very true to the taste of a hand pulled pint in Norfolk

My first brew - brewed as per the instructions, but with the inclusion of a gold, light hopped spray malt to kick start the second ferment. After a few more weeks maturing than stated on the box, it has turned into a really nice drop - much nicer than a lot of ales that you'll find in most pubs. I would happily drink this all the time...
