J.T. and James Toohey began brewing in 1869 - creating Ale recipes in the style of English and German dark beers. The first of these became known as Tooheys Old. Then in 1931, in recognition of Australias warm climate,Tooheys started making Lagers - the most popular of which is Tooheys New.
For over 130 years, Tooheys beers have been enjoyed by Australians from all walks of life, and are today amongst the countries favourites. The brewers at Tooheys have now developed recipes for brewing at home - using many of the same quality ingredients that go into their famous beers.
